Rules for Monthly Competitions
Entry is restricted to current financial members only.
Up to 2 images may be submitted each month, a Set Subject image and an Open Category image.
For A or B Grade, an Open Category image may only be entered if a Set Subject image has also been entered
Novices may enter an Open Category only. However, if a Novice submits 2 photos, then 1 must be Set Subject and the other Open.
For Novices to enter only in Open Category, you must submit the same image in both the Set Subject and Open boxes as both boxes must be entered for the entry to go through. Our Competition Secretary will sort out your Open entry on receiving. Label both entries as OP.
Images entered in previous Wanaka Camera Club competitions may only be re-entered if they were originally unaccepted by critique, in which case they may be edited and re-entered.
Entries are to be sent to the Competition Secretary by 12 midnight on the day of the monthly meeting, using the
Competition Image Submission Page on the Club’s website. Images sent in any other way will not be accepted.
Maximum image height is 1080 pixels while the maximum width is 1620.
Images must be in JPEG format.
Embedding a source ICC colour profile is recommended (sRGB).
The image file name must contain the category, grade and membership number of the member, followed by the title of the image.
The category and grade should both use UPPER CASE lettering, however the title should be in Title Case. This is due to the finicky nature of the software we use to allow the judges to access the photos.
Category: SS for set subject and OP for open category.
Grade: J for Junior, N for Novice, B for B Grade and A for A Grade.
3 digit membership number: e.g. 041.
Use spaces only (not underscores) to separate words in the image file name.
So for a Novice, the Set Subject would look like: SSN 152 The image title. The Open would be OPN 152 The image title
Example: OPN 041 A wise old man.
This would mean that OP is the OPen subject, N is the Grade and the 3 digit number is your membership number.

From Novice to B-Grade:
To be promoted from Novice to B grade a member must accumulate over two consecutive years a total of 25 points or more, which must include 2 Honours and 4 Merits.
Members who have not met the promotion criteria, but who feel that they are in a lower grade than they should be, may submit a selection of ten images to the club committee for consideration for promotion to a higher grade.
Members who have been promoted up a grade but feel that they do not yet have the skills required for that grade, have the option of remaining in their existing grade for one more competition year.
New members are normally placed in Novice grade. New members who wish to be considered for higher grades are required to submit a portfolio of at least ten of their best images for consideration by the club committee.
