About Us
The Wanaka Camera Club is an enthusiastic and friendly club, that was formed in 2007 by a group interested in photography, at a meeting initiated by Jacqui Scott. It now has 50+ members and is growing steadily. The member's ages range from 10 to 70 years old and abilities range from beginner to experienced amateur.
The aim of the club is to enable members to improve their ability, but also to make new friends with a similar interest and enjoy their passion for photography.
The club meets on the 2nd Monday in the month at the St. John's Rooms, Link Way, Wanaka. at 7:30 pm.
The Meetings start with a short talk by The President, to bring everyone up to date with the happenings since the last meeting and any items of interest, such as Field Trips, Competitions and Exhibitions that the members can participate in.
We will then have a guest speaker or a photography workshop before a break for a hot cuppa, a biscuit and a chat.
After the interval we display a slideshow of the photographs entered into the monthly competition and hear the judge's critique.
Our club is also affiliated to the Photographic Society of New Zealand. This affiliation provides our members with benefits such as receiving PSNZ’s monthly newsletter (CameraTalk), access to PSNZ Help Sheets and the opportunity to apply for photographic honours to the level of Licientiateship (LPSNZ). Visit PSNZ’s website here. The affiliation also keeps our club up-to-date with the latest photographic news, events and competitions from around New Zealand.
