OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
Hi Folks, Spring has sprung! It has been fairly still but I feel theWesterlies are soon to be  upon us.

OCTOBER MEETING
This will be held at the St Johns building, Monday 10th October, 7pm for 7.15pm.
Our monthly speaker could not make it so we will have an inhouse night, along with the judge’s comment on our Environmental Portraits.

NEXT COMPETITION
The set subject is “Contradictions”, a little tricky but this can set imaginations going.
The images need to be in by the evening of the meeting. Please be aware of the new sizing requirements.
The following month’s subject is “ Rust’.

HAAST WEEKEND
Fourteen of us ventured into the Southwest in mid September. The bad weather did not occur and we had two great days.
First stop was a necessary coffee in Makarora and then on to Blue Pools and then the Gates of Haast. The river was still high from the previous rain. We had a short lunch stop in Haast before driving down to Jackson Bay.
Some went down to the shoreline and the wharf and some among the craypots and rusty stuff.
Saturday night was enjoyed at the the Haast Pub; a noisy night as the Allblacks- Pumas game was on.
Next day we went north to Ships Creek and the onto the Salmon farm for lunch. We spent a while at Bruce Bay; huge amounts of driftwood/debris there. Then home with a short stop at the whitebait shop at Waita river.
Great time had by all! Images from the weekend are being submitted through Casual submissions .

TRIPS
Hopefully we shall have more trips. The committee are asking members for suggestionsfor day trips and 2-3 day expeditions. Any ideas? We shall shall try and organise a day trip before the end of the year.

FIRST DAVE WETHEY WORKSHOP
“Life after shooting auto and getting the best from your lenses with a view to
creating effective compositions”.
Sunday Nov. 27th or Sunday Dec. 4th (he would rather do Sunday but could do a Saturday).
A four hour field trip. About $600 for 14 people if we go over the hill to Arrowtown. He suggests we should be there by 9am.

NEW CLUB EMAIL ADDRESS
After issues with Gmail, the club now has its own dedicated email domain address. Please add to your address book and use this for any correspondence to the club.   It is info@wanakacameraclub.co.nz

OTHER

The recent issue of F11 magazine has an article about Roger Wandless who is a photographer in Invercargill. I have previously talked to him about coming to Wanaka next year for a presentation. We’ll keep you posted. Prue has let me know of another good article on the site Artifact Uprising, “Five minutes with Finn Beales”. See artifactuprising.com
We are arranging the End of Year dinner, possibly in early December at the golf club ; we’ll keep you
posted. The list of topics for next year’s competitions will soon be finalised.

Once again a reminder, Google has bought Nik software and it is now available for free.
